Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, has tested negative for COVID-19
The governor who had tested positive for the virus on June 8 and proceeded into isolation has recovered according to a statement by Abia state commissioner for Information, John Okiyi Kalu on Saturday.
The commissioner said that samples where submitted on Thursday to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and On Friday, the results of his tests came out negative.
The statements read thus: “Governor Ikpeazu is therefore deemed free of the virus according to the extant guidelines of NCDC and the World Health Organization (WHO). Thank you”
According to the NCDC, Abia has recorded 382 cases of the novel coronavirus with 172 active cases while three persons have died in the state as a result of Covid-19.
