The German international has been heavenly linked with Liverpool who had even held talks with the Reds manager, Jurgen Klopp about a switch to Anfield, before Chelsea moved ahead of their Premier League rivals.

Leno, meanwhile, has played alongside Werner with Germany’s national team, while both players came through Stuttgart’s academy.

And the Arsenal goalkeeper reluctantly admits that Chelsea’s attack will be stronger with Werner in the squad.

“I get on very well with Timo. He is very welcome in London,” Leno told Sky Sports Germany.

“I would be happy for him, Chelsea is a great choice, no question about it. ‘The Premier League is faster, more physical. But I think he’s good for it. Timo is an extremely fast player.

“With his qualities and killer instinct, I’m afraid I have to say, he could be strengthening Chelsea.”
