Hushpuppi makes first appearance in court after arrest



The Nigerian Instagram celebrity, Ramoni Igbalode (Hushpuppi), who was arrested by Interpol  in Dubai for an alleged fraud, appeared for the first time in the US Court.

According to the United States Department of Justice, who confirmed that the 37 year old Nigerian suspect, Ramoni Igbalode (Hushpuppi) made his first appearance in court In Chicago, United States on Friday.

The report further state that the Nigerian Cybercrime suspect is expected to be transferred to Los Angeles crime unit to face prosecution.

Hushpuppi was recently extradited to the United States, was arrested in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Wednesday, June 10th 2020, over a $35 million ventilator scam.

Security officials in the UAE arrested him and 12 others for cyber fraud targeting companies and individuals.

Recall also that on similar fraud case, a Nigerian entrepreneur Obinwanne Okeke (Invictus Obi), pleaded guilty to $11million fraud and is set to be sentenced on October 22 that could lead to a 20 years sentence in federal prison.
