N700m fraud: APC candidate,Ize-Iyamu appears in court today



The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate who won the June gubernatorial primaries for the September 19, 2020 governorship election in Edo State, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, is to appear in court today Thursday over an alleged N700m fraud.

The was case filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for money laundering of N700 million.

Ize-Iyamu is facing trials before a high court in Benin city, the Edo state capital on eight-count charge alongside four others for the N700m fraud that was reportedly deployed for the 2015 general elections.

The anti-graft agency, in the suit marked FHC/BE21C/ 2016, said the gubernatorial hopeful and the other accused allegedly collected the public funds for the polls, contrary to the provisions of the EFCC Act and the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act.
