Nasarawa CAN chairman abducted by gunmen

The Nasarawa state chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria(CAN) Bishop Joseph Masin has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen on Wednesday.

Confirming the abduction, the Nasarawa State Police Command said, Bishop Masin was kidnapped by gunmen who stormed his residence in Bukan-sidi, Lafia metropolis.

The  Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Bola Longe, added a team of police men had been deployed to track the abductors and to ensure the safe rescue of the victim and possible arrest of the perpetrators.

Speaking on the incident, Elder Yohanna Samari, a former CAN Secretary in the State told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that he bishop’s abductors took him away on a motorcycle on Wednesday night.

According to Samari, despite nobody was hurt during the incident, the family is greatly traumatized by the event.

However, The State CAN Vice Chairman, Pastor Tayo Samuel, said the abductors had contacted the family, demanding N20 million ransom.
