Schalke 04 winger Rabbi Matondo has responded to the speculations linking him with a move to Manchester United.

However, the winger, refused to rule out a future move to the Premier League amid interest from the club.

The Red Devils have reportedly identified the 19-year-old as an option if their move for Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho falls through.

Despite difficulties to have a place in the starting XI Bundesliga club this season, the Wales international is rated highly in Germany.

Matondo has a €60 million (£54m) release clause in his contract, while his former club Manchester City have the option to exercise a €45 million (£40m) buy-back clause.

The 13 times in the Premier League champions are confident that they can negotiate a lower price for the teenager if they decide to make a summer move.

When asked about the recent interest in him, Matondo told the Manchester Evening News: “Obviously, there are people talking, asking me and stuff but I am not really thinking about it.

“I am concentrating on Schalke. I still have to achieve my goals for Schalke. I am just concentrating on that and we just see how things go, but for now I am just focused on Schalke.

“Hopefully I can get into the team and help them climb up the table.”

And when quizzed about a future move back to the Premier League, Matondo didn’t want to rule out any possibilities.

He said “I haven’t really thought about it like that,’ he added.

“I just want to do well at Schalke and give back what they have invested into me.

“I just want to give my all and then whatever happens in the future happens. Never say never.”
